June 2018

Happy Summer!


School is out and summer has officially started. We had a great month celebrating our teachers, Father's Day, and the start of summer. We started this month by appreciating all the work that our local teachers have done this year by sponsoring a Happy Hour at The Yard House here in Carlsbad. Below are a few pictures from the event. We wanted to do just a little something to give back and let them know how much we do appreciate them educating our future leaders. With Lexie going to the east coast to get her masters in education and urban studies we hold a special place in our hearts for teachers and always enjoy giving back. Restaurant : The Shore House Kitchen 



A new restaurant in Carlsbad for the locals to try!
Serving breakfast and lunch in downtown Carlsbad, it's a great atmosphere and great experience. They also offer a complete menu for dogs to enjoy a meal with their owners. If you are around, stop by and check it out. Let us know what ya think! 













Recipe: Goat Cheese Mason Jar Platter


Super simple goat cheese platter that makes for a tasty summer appetizer or happy hour meal.

Take a small size mason jar and fill it with some fresh whipped goat cheese.

Add small cut chunks of steamed butternut squash throughout and on top of the goat cheese.

The warm butternut squash will slightly warm the goat cheese making it perfect for dipping and spreading.

Decorate the mason jar with yarn, ribbon, or flowers to make it more festive and appealing.
Surround plate served on with slices of warm pita bread, veggie sticks, and crackers.
Dip, spread, share, enjoy!

Sometimes all we need is a little perspective. This month I was officially cleared to throw again after three grueling years of surgery, PT, and mental adversity. I've learned so much on this journey I would never take any of it back. If there was one thing I learned, it would be that perspective is everything. This book was suggested to me by my coach and now I pass it along to you. You never know where one comes from, and you never know who you may influence and impact along the way on your own journey. 

Workout: Body Weight Booty Blast


4 Rounds, 12 repetitions for each exercise.
Rest after each round is complete for 30 seconds - 1 minute.
If you are trying to make it more of a cardio workout, use the least amount of rest as possible!

Lateral Lunge
Donkey Kick
Fire Hydrants
Rainbow Kicks

Look out for next months workout. All exercises can be done with just a resistance band!

Easy Ways to Stay Healthy: 



1. Drink WATER.

Always bring a water bottle with you. I have found ones with a straw just naturally cause me to drink more. When out at a restaurant always order water with your meal even if you have another drink. Sip on tea throughout the day or an herbal tea just before bedtime.

2. Get some Vitamin D.



Did you know most American are actually deficient in Vitamin D? Sun, sun, sun! Just 15 minutes a day of some sun rays has positive affects on the body and mind. To the right are some great alternatives that you where you can get some Vitamin D through your dietary food.


3. Move More.

Park your car farther away so it forces you to walk more. Take the stairs when their is the option. Go for hikes and opt to spend the weekends outside. Get up out of your desk at work and walk for 5-10 minutes. Walk around when taking a phone call.

4. Make Healthy Swaps.

We don't have to deprive ourselves of what we love. But, make an effort to swap out once in awhile when trying to eat healthy. When eating out, it is easy to make adjustments to your meal like asking for the dressing on the side, or choosing the vegetables or side salad instead of the fries with a burger.

5. Get a Partner.

From my experience, I find it so much easier to eat healthy when the people around me are on the same wavelength. When I am home and Lexie and my parents are eating healthy, it just becomes natural. Find a buddy. Keep each other accountable and even add in some competition if you wish.

6. Create a Routine.

Having a set routine helps make us more likely to stay on track. Try different things, and find a routine that works for you. If you don't like waking up early to workout or prepare your meals, workout in the evening and use the time after to prep for the next day. Their is no "right" way, it's just whatever works best for you, everyone does things a little differently.

7. Have a Plan.


If you know in advance you have a busy week ahead, even more the reason to stick to your routine. If you know you are going out a couple days over the weekend with some friends or have a family party, make a cautious effort to make healthy decisions throughout the week. Sometime I even check the menus of places I am going to see what healthy options they have and plan around that. Without a plan, their is no direction. Set goals, then create a plan around your goals to help you best achieve what you want.


8. Stay Positive.

Always remember to stay positive. Perspective is everything. Have fun and enjoy a healthy lifestyle, it never has to be a diet or a workout that you dread. You never know your healthy decisions may be impacting someone else.


Father's Day 

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there and those that take on the role of being a father. We are more than grateful for our Dad. He continues to provide for us not only through his passion for his business, but in daily life. We are so blessed by your infectious smile, ability to make everyone laugh, the countless nicknames, and the numerous sayings that we catch on to. Thanks for building a business and thank you for building an even stronger faith based family. Also, thanks for the Filipino genes 😉

Insurance cost raise as do the cost of goods, but another factor leading to higher insurance rates that no other industry sees as much as the insurance industry is fraud.  Below are a few  statistics published from the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud. 
· Fraud accounts for 5-10 percent of claims costs for U.S. and Canadian insurers. Nearly one-third of insurers (32 percent) say fraud was as high as 20 percent of claims costs;
· 57 percent of insurers predict an increase in personal-property fraud by policyholders. Around 58 percent say the same for personal auto insurance, and 69 percent expect a rise in workers-compensation scams;
· 61 percent predict an increase in auto-insurance fraud by organized rings, and 55 percent predict an increase workers-compensation scamming;
· About 35 percent say fraud costs their companies 5-10 percent of claim volume. More than 30 percent say fraud losses cost 10-20 percent of claim volume;
