A Month of Thanks

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! As the year is coming to an end, it is always a good idea to reflect on all the opportunities we have had this year. Someone once told me it is impossible to be unhappy and grateful at the same time. I often have to remind myself of this as I am constantly thinking about going home. I am so grateful for the opportunity I have to live in arguably the greatest city in the world with my best friend, my sister. We often get so wrapped up on things we may be missing out on or always thinking about what is going to come next, we forget to be thankful for the moments we are living in right now. The memories we have made here are going to last a lifetime and we cherish the opportunity. Of course we want to thank each and every one of you. We value your business and most importantly, your friendship. Our family would not have been able to experience some of our greatest joys without your support. Of course, I want to give a special thanks to my mom and dad. For always working hard and supporting our dreams no matter how big they may seem. Again, we thank you and hope to connect with each and every one of you as we enter the holiday season and the new year!

Trip Home

Although Lex & I spent Thanksgiving in New York, we did get to go home for a quick trip earlier this month. It is always nice to see the family and familiar faces. There is such an appreciate for the town that I grew up in each time I visit. There really is no place like home. I look forward to our Christmas trip coming up in 3 weeks. We had to go see our dog, Bailey as she is on her last days. Bay is 16 now and has lived a long good life. She has been there for every big moment in my life and I will miss that crazy dog so much. I know Mom and Dad can't wait to have all 3 of us back home. I always look forward to runs at the beach, spending time with family, and of course curling up on my favorite spot on the couch.

East Coast / West Coast Thanksgiving

It is so different to have all of us in different areas for holidays. It is something that takes some getting used to and you don't realize how different it is until you aren't with your family. Addison spent his Thanksgiving holiday with his girlfriend and her family down in Miami, mom and dad enjoyed a meal with the Domingo side and then hosted a bunch of family friends for a Bingo's Bash reunion. I was lucky enough to spend Thanksgiving with friends that are like my family on the east coast. I am so grateful for the people I get to be surrounded with on a daily basis who are so strong, inspiring, and always push me to be better.

Repeat SPRINT/WALK 10-15 times.

Get up and get moving! Lots of parties happening during the holidays. Hold yourself accountable, grab a family member or a friend and commit to moving your body every day. Enter the new year already beginning to crush your goals.

Healthy Holiday Swaps

Image result for healthy holiday swapsI love the holiday season for many reasons! Baking and cooking with my sister and mom is one of my favorite things to do! As we attempt to stay healthy throughout the holidays I thought I would share some easy swaps you can make to save yourself some calories. Here are some healthy holiday swaps that we use in our home, enjoy!

Holiday Tips

1. Fill up your plate with veggies first.
2. Wait 20 minutes before getting a second serving. This allows your brain to actually process if you are really hungry or just eating because it is sitting right in front of you.
3. Drink a glass of water before and after your meal. I love warm lemon water!
4. Pick and choose when to indulge. Of course no one should deprive themselves during the holidays, but if you know you have a lot of parties and gatherings coming up, try and plan when to maybe skip out on the dessert and/or alcohol.
5. Move your body every day! It doesn't have to be anything super intense, just try to get at least 20 minutes of movement in during your day to keep your heart full and healthy.
6. Enjoy your time with family and friends! Don't stress it too much. Use the time to connect with people and begin to set your intentions for the upcoming year.

A Note From Glenn

First of all, I am Thankful to our Lord in heaven for the blessings He has bestowed upon me and my family.  Many of you close to me know our story, and for those of you who do not, let me start by saying, "I would of never imagined where me and my family are today spiritually, mentally and financially." We must keep fighting the good fight and we must focus on finishing life's race strong.

Thank you Amanda for a very heartfelt Blog.  I am so grateful for my children and for Jenifer.  We all know as a family that life will have it's ups and downs.  We all know that we can depend on each other for support and encouragement.  We all know that we are not in control and that we rely on God, our Creator on our blessings and well-being.

Some of the mental strength I receive comes from staying consistent and staying the course.  Even if we had a tough month financially, I always made certain to give first, then pay myself.  "Paying your self first" is a coined statement used by financial planning experts.  I like to set it and forget it with our families savings.  Automatic, monthly payments to our retirement is how I like to execute the coined phrase.  It is a monthly bill I will always have until I retire.  Staying the course and making certain your investment strategy stays inline with your risk tolerance is the key to peace of mind in market fluctuations.  The term dollar cost averaging means you invest a certain amount each month or quarter to a consistent investment in order to by the equity, bond, mutual fund, etc. both at the high point and the low point of the year.  Dollar Cost Averaging eliminates market timing.  You can start off with just $50.00 a month into some of the most utilized mutual funds in the world.  Ask me how and I will show you how.

So how do you plan on having a clear vision of the year 2020 ?  Time to scratch off the goals that you have accomplished, bring the items and goals that were not completed to the top of your list and evaluate why it did not happen.  As I mentioned in a previous blog, I have been setting and changing my goals since 1996.  I still have my original goal sheet printed out from a dot matrix Apple Printer.  Understand the priorities of the goals and sort them from importance, A B C D etc.  Some of you have gone through the "Day Timer" training I did in the early 90's.  Keep on striving and keep on learning friends.  As we plan for December and for 2020, I look forward to chatting with each of you in the coming month and New Year.  We are your Agency for Life and look forward to hearing your exciting news, sad news or just average news from you.  We are doing life together family and friends and The Farmers Insurance Group of Companies has allowed the Domingo's of Carlsbad to keep growing and learning.  Wishing each of you a very Prosperous, Protected and most of all, Peaceful Holiday Season.

Kindly and with Gratitude, the bloggers from the East and West Coast,

Spooky Season

Well, we are officially into the fall season 2019. Just a few short months left in 2019. Lex and I are doing well and keeping busy out here in New York and can not wait for a trip home. We were lucky enough to have some visitors earlier this month. My mom and my aunt, Nat, came out for a long weekend from California. It was my aunt's first time in New York City so of course we got to act like tourists for the weekend. We for sure got our steps in each day walking around the entire city, which meant we earned our New York pizza. However, our favorite part was definitely just spending time together in our apartment, cooking, laughing, and just enjoying each other's company. Can't wait for more visitors next month!

Sneaky Treat

Our new Instagram account, @citysissys, is where you can find the content to our health recipes, workouts, and lifestyle. We are just starting out and would love any feedback and suggestions that you have for us. One of the new recipes we put together this month was a new treat,

It includes:
- 1 C GF oats
- 2 TBSP almond milk
- 1/2 c nut butter
- 1 scoop protein
- 1/4 c chia seeds

Directions:
Blend oats and mix ingredients together. Form into squares or 1 tbsp balls and place in the freezer for 5min. Remove and place in the refrigerator. Enjoy within 5 days!

Restaurant Review - Doner Dekalb Kebab

One of my FAVORITE quick and healthier places to dine out! Super convenient because it is right next to the Trader Joe's and Target that we do most of our shopping at. They have a special spice they put on their protein that Lex and I can't resist. The sauce with all the vegetable toppings are the special touch that always keep us coming back. Our favorite is the bowl with half salad and half rice. They have plenty of options for all! Check them out!

Fall Back into Fitness

It is so easy to get into the routine of "I'll just do it tomorrow" as day light savings begins, the holidays are coming around, the weather is getting a little bit colder, and everyone is exhausted, it is so easy to make excuses. No need to wait until the New Year to start on those fitness and lifestyle goals. Why not start today? Sometimes finding the motivation can get tough and it may just seem like it is impossible, maybe you are thinking why even start? Consistency is key when it comes to making any sort of change in your life. Think about a daily smoker trying to quit. If they were to decide to have 1 less cigarette a day, they could quit in 1 month most likely. Try to think about the big picture, set goals and imagine where you will be at the beginning of 2020 if you just, start today.

Grocery Tricks & Tips

Lex and I are for sure "regulars" at the local Trader Joe's and Whole Foods. We actually enjoy grocery shopping together and meal prepping for the week. We do try to stick primarily to whole foods and avoid gluten and dairy due to dietary restrictions. As young adults living in New York City we are always trying to save money any way we can. Groceries is a big one! We try to eat organic when we can, however it can become a bit pricey. Below is our rule of thumb when we shop organic. We have broken up our primary produce into 2 categories, the "Dirty Dozen" & the "Clean Fifteen". The Dirty Dozen are the produce products we try to buy organic whenever possible because they contain the highest loads of pesticide residues. The Clean Fifteen are produce that are least likely to contain pesticide residues and we will buy organic when on sale, but we don't worry about them too much.

The Dirty Dozen: strawberries, spinach, kale, nectarines, apples, grapes, peaches, cherries, pears, tomatoes, celery, and potatoes
The Clean Fifteen: avocados, sweet corn, pineapples, sweet peas, onions, papayas, eggplants, asparagus, kiwis, cabbage, cauliflower, cantaloupe, broccoli, mushrooms, honeydew

Fire Line, What is it ??

Please check out this blog in order to stay up to date on the California Wild Fires.

https://wildfiretoday.com/

Wildfire Today

Is wildfires a new normal in California ?  With the utility companies accepting liability in one of the most horrific and expensive wild fires in our states history, they will be turning power off in areas with high wild fire exposure.  This will assist with the prevention of wildfires that are started with an electric spark.  Clients and prospects alike are receiving some non renewals because of the exposure the exchanges will have if a disaster occurs where we can not pay out claims.  We, as an insurance company, have a financial responsibility to make certain we do have enough reserves to pay our claims.

Many new clients have been underwritten by our agency because of the partnership with the California Fair Plan.  The CFP was designed to assist with undesirable locations for not only fire but, under served areas of California.  The coverage purchased from the CFP will protect your exposure to wild fire.  All other covered perils with the Farmers Insurance Group is protection for liability, vandalism, acts of God, etc.  We have been able to fill the gaps of insurance those prospects and clients by writing the CFP Policy and the Farmers Insurance Supplemental Policy.

Making sure that your home is clear of any brush, cleaning out rain gutters, trimming or removing trees that are near or touching your home, are just a few items that should be conducted for proper maintenance for home ownership.  Creating a plan of meeting, communicating and gathering the items most important in a home is a great way to get the family involved with a project.  Creation of escape routes, knowing where your fire extinguisher is, setting an off site meeting place, taking care of pets, and organizing the neighborhood in the event of a catastrophe is a must in today's wildfire and earthquake prone environments.  Please give our agency a call if you have any questions or concerns about home maintenance or policy contract language.

As always, we are grateful to have you in our lives as friends, family and clients.  We appreciate you listening and reading our blog from the East and West Coast.  Looking forward to chatting again in December.

Kindly, Glenn & Amanda Domingo

New Season, New Beginnings

As the fall is approaching, and the air is getting chili and crisp in the city, we are all going through change. Lex, Alexandra if your in New York,  has just began her second year as a math teacher and is really enjoying the students she is able to impact every day. She is still working with adverse and special needs students.  She is also a full time student finishing her last year for her Masters Degree in Special Education.  I was just promoted as the Assistant Studio Manager for the Orange Theory SOHO Branch.  I am also a coach at the newest fitness craze in Manhattan, Punch Pedal House.  I love to coach and teach cardio circuits with boxing.

We are slowly, but surely making our way back into a routine. here are some of our best tips and tricks to get back on track and set yourself up for success!
  1. Set your alarm the night before! This has been a mistake of ours one too many times. You will not "forget" to wake up & feel rushed out the door.
  2. Turn off all electronics 15min before getting into bed. We love to scroll and watch Netflix too, but we have noticed such a huge difference in our sleep when we actually put the technology away!
  3. Prep your bag. With our early mornings, it always gives us a peace of mind preparing all our things the night before. It makes it 10x easier to wake up knowing you do not have to rush or stress about forgetting anything.
  4. Prep your meals. Finding healthy, nutritious, and satisfying meals to easily prepare the night or week ahead will save you lots of time and money!
  5. Lex's First Day 2019
New Job! OTF - Assistant Studio Manager
  6. Schedule "me" time. We spend our days surrounded by people and stimulus, it is easy for our bodies to stay in constant alert mode all day. Take 15 minutes for yourself just to relax. Literally, do not do anything. Lay down, no phone, tv, set an alarm for yourself and just try and focus on nothing but your breath. You would be surprised how challenging yet rewarding 15 minutes to yourself can b

Seasonal Recipe

Pumpkin Spice & Everything Nice

Pumpkin Spice Protein Smoothie
Everyone knows since it is officially fall season, pumpkin spice flavored everything is totally acceptable. Here is my favorite protein smoothie at the moment that can be used as a post workout snack, a night time treat, or an afternoon pick me up!

Prep Time: 5 min
Cook Time: Less than 5 min

Ingredients:

1 scoop vanilla protein powder of your choice
8-10oz unsweetened almond milk
1/4 c pumpkin puree
1 tsp pumpkin spice
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/2-1 banana depending on desired sweetness
1 cup of ice

Super simple, just throw all the ingredients into your blender and blend until desired consistency! Sip & enjoy!

Giving back - Beach Clean Up

Carlsbad Beach Clean Up Crew
Our agency is always big on giving back to the community that gives us so much. Mom and dad had the pleasure of participating in the beach clean up with the local, New Song Community Church that is right in our neighborhood. We encourage all of you to find something you are passionate about and give back. The beach has been our second home since the day I was born. We look forward to doing more outreach and community events. If you have any ideas or need some help and sponsorship, we are always open to ideas and love to help!

12 Week Challenge

Since it is the start of the new season, I always like to try and do some sort of a rest or a cleanse just to keep my insides right! Most of the time I eat fairly healthy and always try to get well-balanced meals in when I am out. Join me on my 12 week challenge of no processed foods! Whole foods, real ingredients, & consistency when exercising. It is always good to be mindful of how we feel & make sure we take care of our body that gives us so much on a daily basis.  The human body is a powerful organism and computer of some sort.  Learning to properly fuel your body is definitely the best source of medication in the 21st Century.  You are what you eat.  I hope you guys join me on this 12-weeks journey and I can't wait to keep you updated!

Ingredient of the Month - Turmeric

I decided to add one ingredient per month that I find beneficial, unknown, or something I use on a daily basis that I believe is worth talking about. This months ingredient of choice is TURMERIC! Lex and I use turmeric in some capacity every single day. Turmeric is most know for its anti-inflammatory properties.
We use turmeric to:
1. Make "Golden Milk Lattes"
2. Make our own scar reducing face masks
3. Cook yummy foods!

The Summer of First's

My first East Coast beach trip.
It has been quite an adjustment period as I am finishing up my first summer out of college, away from home, and in the working world. I learned quickly that in school or not, their is always something to learn. I definitely am still going through a transitional phase of figuring out my niche and how to balance work, life, and all the chores that come with living on your own. Thankfully, I have my sissy to help along the way. I'm looking forward to the future and excited for what is to come.

Moving In

Lex and I recently moved into our very first New York apartment in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn! While the amount of space available is going to take some adjusting, we like to call it quiet and quaint. We are able to enjoy all the amenities, nights on the rooftop, and the easy access to the subway station. We were so lucky that Dad was able to come for a few days to make an unforgettable trip to Ikea, move us in, and enjoy some laughs at our new pad. We even started our own Instagram together, @citysissys where we are showing our cooking, exploring, and enjoying of New York City. We look forward to the many memories we will make living together and are so grateful for the opportunity.

July 2019

Happy 4th!

2019 is half way completed and we hope you all are enjoying the summer weather while having a fun Fourth of July.  Our family had a blessed 4th, being able to celebrate another year around the sun for our Mama Fili while celebrating her 83rd birthday on July 4th. Her spirit is well and she is gaining strength back every day.  Happiest of Birthdays to both Mama Fili and our agencies first Marketing Representative, Addison Domingo.  Addison celebrated his 25th birthday on July 10th.  Both of these people, Grandmother and Grandson are fighters.  Mama Fili is back to her upstairs apartment and cooking again.  It was a miracle from the illness she recovered from.

Very proud of my son.  Addison just launched is companies web site.  Please follow his blog and perhaps shop his product offerings.  Here is a little information about his company.

THEIR MISSION

We are a startup Artistic and Athletic Networking Company, with a philanthropic heart, making it our mission  to spread the world with light through art and athletics.  We, here at Follow the Trees Ride the Vibe, believe that artists and athletes aren't so different after all.  Athletes at the top of their game are the best at what they do, the best at getting the job done.  Top-tier artists too.  Well-known artists have the ability to see their masterpiece before and as they are constructing it, just like an athlete, can envision a play before it happens.  By combining the two, not only will each person hone in their skills and sharpen their craft; but, we believe they will see overall health benefits.  We all have hidden talents and untapped potential.

By specializing in various artistic products and numerous athletic  services, we generate profit doing what we love in order to help those in need by donating 15% of our profits.  Ranging all the way from pitching lessons to street fairs selling HEMP products, we generate revenue in many ways.  Similarly, with a  wide variety of mediums and self made projects that are dedicated to helping less opportunistic people, we invite our customers, our family and friends, our audience to change the world, locally and internationally, with one random act of kindness at a time.  We all could give a little more.

Yes, we could all use a little more money; but, time is the greatest currency of all.  And yes, we have problems and we have worries; but, so does everyone.  We all have feelings that we hide inside.  We all are entitled to our own beliefs and perspectives, so we can never truly understand how another person feels.  On the brighter side of that, we all have hidden talents and passions.  We'll never know how far we can go if we don't take that first step in the right direction.   So, look beneath the surface.  Dig in.  Take the time to stop and listen to a stranger's story.  Don't look with your eyes but with a genuine heart.  Thank you for understanding with us that...
We are all more than meets the eye.

Again, thank you for taking time to read about Addison and Arianna.

State Beach Classic

Our agency was fortunate to have sponsored the 5th Annual State Beach Classic.  This article was written by our friends at  The Coast News Group  and a link to the entire write up is below.

CARLSBAD — Carlsbad is gearing up for the “funnest-ever” summer kick-off beach party — the fifth annual State Beach Classic: A Tribute to Banning Capps.
Held at Tamarack State Beach on June 2, the surfing competition — limited to Carlsbad residents — aims to hail the beauty of everything Carlsbad while gathering families to celebrate each other.
Ulises Thomas, the event’s coordinator and “visionary,” will showcase Carlsbad’s “hotbed” of novice and professional surfing talent against a backdrop of “great” food, music, sand contests and overall beach fun.
The all-day revelry begins at 8 a.m. with the singing of the National Anthem by Anthony Cullens. The event is free with the exception of a nominal surfing fee.
“Family’s the word of the day,” Thomas said. “This isn’t a surf contest where you surf, you lose, you leave. Our State Beach Classic is a day of families and friends hanging out, eating great food, listening to awesome music, winning raffle prizes, running in sand contests and watching surfers. It’s a day of entertainment with surfing as an added bonus.”
Thomas described the festivities as organic in growth and legendary in production. Emblematic of local surf cultures, The State Beach Locals Surf Club began as a way to enjoy the sport and protect the ocean. The clique boasted their talents as the “best surfers in town,” as they did their reputation as “hardcore protectors of the ocean.”
“Back in the day Carlsbad had underground, bootleg surf contests,” Thomas said. “We’d surf and judge and heckle each other to the next level and then share a Hawaiian luau or barbecue. We were territorial with our beaches, our waters, and our town. No one was allowed to be disrespectful to our friends or the ocean.”
Upon the tragic death of cohort Banning Capps, their “angel of peace and love,” the event lay dormant. Thomas resurrected the day as a tribute to his beloved friend.
“Banning would be happy,” he said.

Please check out this link by the Coast News Group on the event.

This event also remembers some of the local surfers that have past on and are now surfing the best waves in heaven.  Looking forward to connecting with you all soon.  Hopefully before next years kick off to summer.  Enjoy this summer to its fullest.

Trail Mix

Summer means lots of out door activities (at least for us).  It's important to stay hydrated during the summer heat, but it's also important to properly fuel your body with the right snacks. We often find ourselves away from the apartment from 8 in the morning to 8 at night. New York is exciting any time of the day, so why stay inside!  Meal prepping is not always feasible, or fun to eat to be honest.  Making hearty snacks for throughout the day has been our go to lately.  We create a homemade trail mix every week with whatever nuts and dried fruit we are craving, it's super easy.

- 2 cups raw nuts
- 1 cup raw pumpkin seeds
- 1 cup raw sunflower seeds
- 1 cup dried fruit

Store it all in a jar and dispense into bags or containers as the week goes on.

Restaurant Review

Baya Bar - Brooklyn, NY

Trying to escape this heat and humidity out here in New York is nearly impossible. After a workout all I was craving was an acai bowl to remind me a little bit of home. We found this superfood smoothie place and decided to give it a try! They offer juices, smoothies, superfood bowls, and much more. I went with the classic acai bowl - Koa Bowl. What I love is the amount of toppings you could choose from and how you could add protein powder to any smoothie or bowl. Usually acai doesn't fill me up for too long, but adding the protein really helped. I'd definitely prefer my acai from home, but this one hit the spot and cured my craving for a taste from home.

This pyramid starts at 100 reps and you work your way down in increments of 10 reps (100, 90, 80...). Depending on your sweat level go through the workout 3-5 times!

100 Jump Ropes
90 Mountain Climbers
80 Jumping Jacks
70 Alternating Reach Taps
60 Air Squats
50 Toe Touches
40 Bicycles
30 Lunges
20 Jump Squats
10 Push-Ups

Go out and get your sweat on!

A Note From the Agent

As summer comes to a start, I wanted to make sure that you understand how I feel about safety and prevention.  These are types of insurances that do not cost premium dollars.  Their cost is Brain Equity.  A little thinking goes a long way.

Always understand your objective for the task at hand.  For example, I want to go to Costco and pick up a few things.  Are my tires filled properly before I leave ?  Do I have enough gas to get there ?  What time of day is it and can I AVOID traffic with an alternative route ?  Where do I feel safe parking my car ?  Is the area well lit ?  Will my car get a scratch or a door dent because of the tight parking spot ?  As I walk up to Costco, do I see any reverse lights on cars that might not see me ?  Am I aware of any cars that might not see me ?  Do I try to make eye contact with drivers that let me pass ?  Do I use a proper cart to prevent any accidents from happening inside the store ?  Do I make eye contact with other shoppers in the isle so we don't run into each other ?  Am I buying something I want or need ?  Is it the healthiest of choices ?  Do I make certain not to stack items in the cart that might damage other items I am purchasing ?  Do I know that my Costco Card and my Credit Card are in a safe place ?  Do I make certain to watch the clerks pack my goods appropriately ?  Am I aware of any cars that might not see me as I pack up my car ?

As you can see, safety and prevention of accidents can save a ton of money and time by avoiding certain hazards.  The next time you take a trip or need to run an errand, make a mental note on safety and how many times we don't even think about how we are conducting risk management as we leave and return to our home.  The cost to be safe and well is priceless, all it needs is a little Brain Equity.

Looking forward to our next blog Family, Friends and Clients.  If you have any questions or concerns, want a Farmers Friendly Review, or want to come and visit us, just let us know.

This cute place can add up at the end, but I say it's worth it!

Recipes of the Month

VEGAN SUMMER PESTO
- handful raw nuts
- 2 handfuls fresh basil
- salt, pepper garlic to taste
- juice of 1 lemon
- sprinkle of nutirtional yeast
- olive oil (amount varies on desired consistency)

I don't use measurements too much when constructing my own recipes, only when I'm following someone else's. Try this out and adjust to balance the flavors according to your liking . It's great as a veggie dip, on zucchini noodles, salmon, shrimp, chicken, bread- basically anything.

KIKI'S SNEAKY TREAT

- 3 Loving Earth chocolate squares (we love the Mint flavor best)
- 1/2 banana
- 1 tbsp. raw almond butter
- 1/2 c. gluten-free granola
- splash of almond milk

Just like her big sissy, Kiki doesn't always use measurements, but she creates the best sneaky after dinner treats. These yummy bowls satisfy that late night or mid-day sweet craving. It's healthy, it's filling, it's perfect!

SUMMER COOLIES

This New York heat is ROUGH. The humidity makes you crazy, and it just makes you sweat like crazy.  Amanda and I get aggravated with the heat and humidity combined, but having a cute little snack always helps ease our pains.  Right now we're really into frozen mango and pineapple. Such a simple and refreshing treat.  It's not really a recipe, but a good idea for a chilled treat because turning the oven on in a New York summer? Forget about it.

End of Year Reflection- Ms. D

This week concluded my first year of teaching and living in New York City.  It's hard to believe how much of myself and my life has changed. I faced challenges that made me question my identity, my confidence and abilities.  I'm proud to say each challenge was overcame with resilience.  New York has taught me just that- how to be resilient when facing defeat.  And it's not just New York that taught me that, it was my students. They faced more stress and trauma than I could ever know- yet they showed up. The population of students I had the pleasure of teaching this year were far from perfect, they were suspended kids with major trauma induced lives. They are strong, they are vibrant and they are unique. They have given me a new purpose in life and new outlook on everything. I never walked out of work without a funny, crazy, memorable story.  I loved showing up for those kids everyday. A new type of patience was something I took away from this year, and I'll forever be grateful for that.  I am more humble, empathetic, vulnerable and loving because this job has opened my heart up.  As I continue to establish myself as an educator, I hope to grow into an influential advocate for educational equity. It's been the best year of my life growth wise and I couldn't be more thrilled to have one year down.  But, I am ready for a much needed break and to recharge with my favorite people.

Summary and Trends from the Agency Owner

Clients, Friends and Family,

It was a scary and emotional month with my moms health on the line.  As I have mentioned more than once, Faith, Family and then me.  I am glad that the kids were able to get home to visit and spend quality time with Mama Fili, Jen and me.  Never the less, we must take care of our family.  If you are not taken care of yourself, it is very difficult to take care of anyone else.

Please understand that insurance is the spread of risk over a population in order that no single risk has to take the burden of a covered loss by themselves.  This is how insurance works.  We do have a higher risk for wild fire than most places in the country.  You will see rates for both auto and home insurance increase because of the payouts and the possibility of other wild fires occurring.  This is an industry trend.  Make certain to reach out if you have any questions or concerns about pricing.  You chose our agency because of service, a fair price and the Farmers Insurance Brand to protect your personal property.  Don't always let price be the decision you make on the important items you  purchase.  This is especially true for professional services such as an attorney, insurance services, doctors etc.  We are here to assist. We are contacting clients directly with increases in premiums over 12%.  We are here to serve you.

CEA Can Help You Help Your Insureds

On Thursday, July 4 at 10:33 a.m. PST a magnitude 6.4 earthquake struck about 12 kilometers southwest of Searles Valley in the Mojave Desert. Multiple aftershocks followed, one as strong as a magnitude 5.4.

This was the largest magnitude earthquake to strike California in 20 years.

Residents of the town nearest to the epicenter─Ridgecrest─felt very strong shaking, with some describing the event as "terrifying." The earthquake was felt far and wide: from the Pacific Coast to Las Vegas, and from San Diego to the State of Washington. Governor Newsom has declared a State of Emergency for Kern County.

USGS indicates a "yellow alert" for economic losses: "Some damage is possible and the impact should be relatively localized." Some news media are reporting damage to roads, buildings and residences.

CEA has approximately 2,000 policyholders in the affected areas, including ZIP Codes 93555 (Ridgecrest), 93527 (Inyokern) and 93562 (Trona), who may have experienced strong shaking.

Wishing everyone a wonderful and safe summer.  Please call anytime with questions or concerns and we will address the issue immediately.  Our first time call response is still over 75% and we take pride in that.

Kindly and with Gratitude, the bloggers from the East and West Coast, Glenn & Alexandra Domingo

May 2019

Graduation 2019

Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus

What an eventful month of May we had.  Sissy graduated from Long Island University's Brooklyn campus as Magna Cum Laude with an undergraduate.  She had enough credits to also earn her masters degree in exercise science and will walk in December.  She accomplished this alongside being a Division 1 Athlete in just four short years.  Our little "Kiki All-Star" was awarded with the highest achievement in her field of study for clinical practice, as well as the scholar athlete "Heart" award.  Her dedication to a the softball team during her injury and beyond stood out.  I think we can all attest to that. It's so easy to brag about my sis when she accomplishes so much!  In April, Amanda accepted a sales associate position at Orange Theory Fitness. She will be opening the SoHo location, which is also the flagship for technology testing.  I am excited to share this next chapter of her life with her as we become New York roomies!  We are all so proud of her; it has been a long journey but she made it.  Through the grace of God and her drive, Amanda exceeded all expectations.  We look forward to seeing her grow in the fitness industry and how her loving heart will reach all those she encounters.

We are a small startup with a philanthropic heart that specializes in various products and services.  Our goal is to spread the world with light through art and athletics.  Donating 15% of our profits to the homeless here in Pittsburgh, people living in poverty in third world countries, and victims of natural disaster relief, we hope to inspire people to give a little more.  Yes, we could all use a little more money; but, time is the greatest currency of all.  And yes, you have problems and worries; but, so does everyone.  We all have feelings that we hide inside.  On the brighter side of that, we all have hidden talents and passions.   So, look passed the surface.  Don't look with your eyes but with a genuine heart.
We are all more than meets the eye

Check out the website for all services and products sold, once again- each purchase donates 15% of profits to the homeless population in Pittsburgh, PA.

Mother's Day

Happy belated Mother's Day to all those hot mamas out there! We couldn't make this world go round with you all.  Especially our mama- we love and thank you for all you do.  We were lucky enough to spend this Mother's Day with our mom in Brooklyn.  Spending quality time together is all we could ever want.

It also was Jen's birthday on the 23rd, so another shout out to her as she celebrates another year of life.  Thank you God for her health and spirit- we are so grateful!

New York Reviews

The Adventure Park @ Long Island

Recently I was able to take some of my students to The Adventure Park out in Long Island.  It was such a nice break from the city life, the constant chill of concrete and the alerting sirens or honking horns.  If you are in New York, or are looking for an activity that's active and fun- ZIP LINING. It was my first time doing it, in New York of all places... But it was so much fun and such a great way to see my students come to life.  The greenery surround you as you hang up in the air balancing and swinging from tree to tree.  Be sure to check them out!

15 minute sweaty shred

Here is a quick circuit to do when you are in a time crunch. I often an running from work to class at night, and while there is not a whole lot of time in between to always make time for myself- I do try to make working out a priority.  This short circuit requires no equipment, just a timer and a little bit of space. Get ready to sweat!

Circuit A (30 seconds on, 15 seconds rest, move on to next exercise)
- burpees
- right leg lunge
- left leg lunge
- squat jumps
1 minute rest, repeat 3x

Circuit B (30 seconds on, 15 seconds rest, move on to next exercise)
- mountain climbers
- push ups
- bicycle crunches
- shoulder taps
1 minute rest, repeat 3x

Here's our workout Guru, Kiki All-Star, at her new office in SoHo, Manhattan- reminding you that hard work pays off and to always get your sweat in!

A Message from the Agency Owner

First of all, how thankful I am to our Creator.  I find it fascinating to have a life manual at our fingertips and to see how the Bible acts as a living transcript.  Believing is the beginning, living out what is instructed is a life long commitment Jenifer and I have promised to each other and to God.  Life will always have peeks and valleys.  It is how we react and proceed with the outcomes in life that will truly define our character.  I recently had an encounter with my Father and have let go of so much pain and hurt that I find myself a better person.

Witnessing first hand all that my children and wife have done in this past and fast 25 years of marriage is amazing to me.  Jenifer and I feel great knowing our kids are strong and courageous enough to make their dreams come true with learning and growing outside of California.  We do get sad once in awhile not being with them physically.  FaceTime is a life saver.  Also knowing that each of them have their Faith comforts us.  Knowing that we will all be together spiritually is also comforting in this crazy fast pace world we live in.

The message I want to convey to my friends, family and clients are:

1.  Prioritize your life, and putting yourself third is not such a bad place to be.
2.  Set your goals, review them and adjust them to be in line with your heart.
3.  Balance with Mind, Body and Spirit
4.  Don't bestow guilt on anyone or feel guilty unless you do need to make changes.
5.  Enjoy what you have and take care of the things that you do have.
6.  Give with a joyful heart

Well, this father and husband has another 17 years of work to accomplish.  I do enjoy communicating with you all.  Thank you for allowing us to provide protection for your life and personal belongings.  Thank you for allowing our agency to give you peace of mind.  Thank you for allowing us to continue to build an insurance practice.  Without you, we would have no business.  Have a great summer and look forward to connecting soon.
