October 2017

California Earthquake Association (CEA)

Our hearts weigh heavy with Mexico as they recover from the recent catastrophic earthquakes.  I send my condolences and prayers to all who were affected, and to all who has loved ones affected.  The earth is highly unpredictable, as we all have recently witnessed.  One way we can all be readily prepared for a high volume natural disaster is though earthquake insurance.  A standard homeowner's policy does not include earthquake coverage, it is something you need to add on, or endorse.  Depending where you live, earthquake insurance can be as little as $150 a year.  An earthquake policy gives you peace of mind and assurance if an earthquake were to occur, you would be taken care of.  This is very important coverage, especially with everything that has been happening.  Like I said, the world and our lives are unforeseeable. Be sure to also check out this video on flood insurance.  We hope these videos help better explain some of the common "gaps" insureds seem to face.  Feel free to reach out for free advice and insurance consultations with any further questions or concerns.

Recipes of the Month

My favorite nutritionist and health forum to follow is Kimberly Snyder.  She is the founder of  "The Beauty Detox Solution", a lifestyle philosophy focused on becoming beautiful from the inside out.  Her work does not stop there, she is also the owner of GlowBio, a juice bar located in Los Angeles. As a certified nutritionist, multiple times best-selling author and business owner, Kimberly is definitely someone I tend to look up to. With a brand new Fall season upon us, I wanted to highlight one of my favorite seasonal recipes from Kimberly's Beauty Detox Solution, as well as one year round recipe that keeps me full and satisfied.

The first recipe I would like to share is the Glowing Green Smoothie.  This is Kimberly's signature and trademarked recipe, it is what made her the world renowned nutritionist she is today.  You can click the link above for the exact steps and ingredients used!

Squash is a common favorite and go-to during the holiday's, especially for vegans.  It's nutrient dense and digests really well.  This next recipe is fall on a baking sheet, it can serve many people and tastes so good.  Here is the link for a spiced butter nut squash delight. Butter nut squash can be really hard to cut and dice into cubes so you could also opt for the pre-cut packages ones, just avoid frozen ones!

                                                        Local Events

Halloween is among us, and San Diego has so many fun (yet frightening) events that the public can attend.  Some are free, while others come with a small price. I've personally been the the Haunted Trails in the past and it was awesome!  I've heard great things about the Savage House and Scream Zone too. Here is a link to search upcoming holiday events in the SD area.

Community Involvement

As long time Carlsbad residents, our family believes in giving back to a community that has given us so much.  My siblings and I grew up in the Carlsbad public school system, and we are still in touch with some our favorite and most influential teachers today.  With a passion for learning and educating, I feel honored to be a proud to be apart of the Calavera Hills Middle and Elementary School culture. The Farmers Insurance Group of Companies values educators and allows our agency to help make a difference at CHMS & CHES.

In the past we awarded outstanding teachers and staff members that were making a difference at the school. This year we are implementing staff breakfasts provided by our agency to recognize everyone for their hard work.

We have spent the past few months helping the elementary school grow their own small garden.  Showing the importance of loving our earth and building with our hands.  We started the garden project last school year, and are back this year to watch it flourish once again.

Thanks for reading! We hope you are all enjoying the Fall season so far.  It's crazy how fast the year has flown by.  Let us all remember the importance of family, friends and loved ones.  Reach out and spread kindness every day, may God bless you all. - Lexie Domingo
