February 2020, The Farmers Insurance Open and 26 Years with Jen

Domingo & Associates, FARMERS Insurance Your

Agency for Life

Can't believe we are already a month into the new year. January brought new goals, a quick trip back
home, The Farmers Open, belated Christmas celebration, and new opportunities. This month my parents will be celebrating their 26th wedding anniversary with a trip to see my brother in Pittsburgh, and my sister and I in New York. We  look forward to having some visitors for some time.
Lex is looking forward to escaping this winter cold as she plans her trip back home for Ski Week at the end of the month. We have some Valentines Day suggestions for you, new healthy recipes, our monthly restaurant review, a fat blasting workout, and tips on staying healthy while traveling. Hope
you enjoy! XOXO

SHORT AND SWEET

I was fortunate enough to plan a quick weekend getaway home to attend the Farmers Open & to just get out of the city for a little bit. There's no amount of stress that a quick look at the ocean and a hug from mom and dad can't cure. It was so relaxing and nice to see my family and friends as always. I also happened to be home when we were celebrating our very belated Christmas celebration with my dad's side of the family, the heir of Fanners Insurance. The trip was way too quick, but don't worry I'm already planning my next one back the the b(w)est coast.

FARMERS INSURANCE OPEN, a 9 year tradition

I was finally able to come home and experience the infamous PGA Farmers Insurance Open held at Torrey Pines. lt's such a cool environment and not a bad way to experience my first golf tournament. My dad invites his clients and some of his closest friends from all over the US to come and enjoy the event with him. I was of course most excited to see Tiger Woods. The tickets are a hot item every year and now I understand why. Below are some pictures highlighting the event. Our agency has been attending for the past 9 years and is a great way to thank our clients and friends. To the right is Eric Wiltfong, high school friend, college room mate, client and successful business owner. Also in the photo is our friend from Washington Bryan Lee. Boy did we share good times in high school. Thanks to Farmers Insurance for hosting such a great event, we look forward to it every year!

RESTAURANT REVIEW

Now, some may argue that ice cream isn't a meal and this isn't a restaurant, but it's something you don't want to miss out on! Handles Ice Cream is fairly new to the city of Carlsbad, and it's getting just as much buzz as the location in Encinitas, where the line wraps around the building. They have SO many flavors and options, but each one will not disappoint. The perfect sweet treat to top off your evening or a quick treat if you are walking around the village or down by the water.

GIFT GUIDE FOR ALL

Whenever I'm stuck and don't know what to get someone for a holiday or special occasion, these are my go to questions. I've been pretty known for being a decent gift giver. Go through this check list if you are struggling for the "perfect" gift.
1. What's something they wouldn't buy for themselves?
2. What are their favorite hobbies?
3. Gift or activity?
4. Make it thoughtful. It doesn't matter if it's the most extravagant gift or a piece of cardboard as long as there is a story behind it, they are bound to love!
5. How much time do you have to get the gift?

ENERGY PROTEIN BITES

Running around in the city from one job to the next is no joke. Fueling right is so important so I can perform my best. I have always had digestive issues and sometimes grabbing something on the run isn't always the healthiest nor does it sit well with me. When I was home I decided to throw some simple, quick, easy ingredients together and came out with a pretty good quick snack to have on the go, before/after a workout, or as a sweet guilt free dessert.

Ingredients Needed:

2 scoops Protein of your choice (I use RAW Vanilla)
I cup gluten free oats
IO pitted dates
1/2 cup chopped almonds (or any nut of your choice)
3 tbsp melted coconut oil
1-2 tbsp ground cinnamon
2-3 tbsp almond butter (or any nut butter of your choice)

How To
1. Soak dates in hot water for 5-10 min. This will make it easier for food processor to blend.
2. Blend dates with a splash of water.
3. Add almonds and blend together.
4. Add melted coconut oil & almond butter. Blend.
5. Add protein and oats. Blend.
6. Take mixture out of food processor and place into a bowl.
7. Knead mixture with your hands until mixed to your preference. The mixture should stick together and be kind of thick.
8. Separate mixture into little balls, then flatten to create small cookie like shape.
9. Refrigerate for I 0-20 min. Store in refrigerator for up to 5 days.

Dad's Way:
Dad takes his protein bite topped with peanut butter and a sliced banana on top for his sweet afternoon pick me up! Give it a try!

FIT FOR ALL

Here's a quick core blaster that I like to finish my workouts with. No equipment is necessary! Complete each exercise for 30 seconds with no rest until you finish all 4 exercises. Rest for 30 seconds - I min, then repeat 3-4 times. Enjoy the bum!

1. Reverse double crunch
2. Bicycle crunches
3. Leg raises
4. Sprinter sit ups

TRAVEL TIPS

Traveling can be stressful to some. Some love it, some hate it. Here I have included what I do to make traveling as seamless as possible. Hope it helps!

1. Create a checklist. I physically write out things I know I will need but will either forget, or need to use up until travel time. Once it's packed and put it away I cross it off the list.
2. Bring snacks. I hate spending money on everything mediocre at best and over priced at the airport, so I always make sure to pack some healthy snacks like fruit, nuts, and protein bars to hold me over.
3. Stay hydrated! Bring an empty water bottle. There are a ton of fill up stations throughout the airport. I hear you are suppose to drink the amount of time in the air in liters to stay properly hydrated while traveling.
4. Keep sanitizer handy. It's always flu season when traveling. Always stay sanitized and bring some wipes to wipe down the arms of your seat and tray table.
5. Bring older headphones. The head phone jack on most tv screens for the planes only have the older plug for the iPhone 6.
6. Place your wallet/boarding pass in the same spot. Never have to stress about where it is or if you left it somewhere. I also recommend putting it right back after security checks your ID.
7. Pack smarter. We all know we're allowed one carry on and small handbag. I will say it's nice not to have to check bags, but when hoping on and off planes and transferring it makes it so much easier with less stuff. I ALWAYS over pack and make this mistake.
8. Take a lap. If time permits, walk around the airport instead of sitting down for an hour before your trip. All you do on the plane is sit anyway. Get some steps in, stretch out your legs, and try to move a little before your Apple Watch goes off and reminds you how lazy you've been all day.

A NOTE FROM THE AGENCY PRINCIPAL, BACK TO THE BASICS

As I ponder on how to improve our agency service, sales and relationships, I recently studied a book called Agents of Change. As I started my career, I learned and through time I became an expert in my field. In fact, every two years every agent within Domingo & Associates, FARMERS, needs to log in many hours of continuing education in order to maintain a valid California Insurance License for both property and casualty and life and health.

To this point, I will have a clear vision in 2020 providing tid bits of knowledge I share with my referral partners and clients.

"When can I be in an at fault accident and not effect my insurance rate?"
I share this story often because of the validity and personal experience Jenifer and I shared in the Summer of 2007. Jenifer had three at fault accidents that summer. Thank God that there were no injuries and not to bad of damage. Thank God that each of the accidents were less than $1000.00 in payout by FARMERS.
Below is an Article segment from NerdWallet:

In California, for instance, most accidents and minor violations stay on
your driving record for three years. Accidents involving more serious
violations stay on your record longer - 10 years for a DUI conviction.
Even if you weren't at fault, an accident must be reported and wi((
appear on your record if property damage was more than $1,000 or if
anyone was injured or died, according to the DMV.

As you read the above, the insurance company needs to pay more than $  1,000.00 to make the claim chargeable. If the accident is less than $ 1,000.00 but, does have bodily injury claim on it, you must report and the incident will remove your good driver discount. For this reason, we are your trusted adviser. Please call our agency to discuss what will happen to your rate if you do have an at fault accident that either causes$ 1,000.00 or more in payout or has bodily injury. A payout includes any expenses that Farmers has to pay including reports, rental car reimbursement and or repairs.
