Breast Cancer Awareness Month: Our Auntie Des

October: Breast Cancer Awareness Month

πŸŽ€ A Tribute to the Fighters, the Survivors, and the Supporters

October reminds us of more than pink ribbons and awareness campaigns — it reminds us of the people behind them. The women and men who have faced breast cancer with courage, grace, and unshakable hope. This month, and every month, we honor those who have battled, are still fighting, and those who stand beside them every step of the way.

To those currently in the fight — your strength inspires more than you know. You are the definition of resilience, showing up day after day with courage that radiates even through the hardest moments.

To the survivors — your stories light the path for others. You are living proof that faith, determination, and community can overcome fear.

And to those who have lost someone they love — our hearts are with you. Their spirit lives on in the laughter, memories, and love they shared. Their fight continues to fuel awareness, research, and hope for a cure.

Breast cancer affects not just one person, but entire families, communities, and generations. That’s why awareness matters. Early detection saves lives. Support and compassion heal hearts. And together, our collective strength creates change.

πŸ’— To every fighter, survivor, and supporter — this month is for you.
We wear pink not just as a symbol, but as a promise: to keep raising awareness, to keep supporting one another, and to never stop fighting for a world without breast cancer.

Farmers Insurance: How You Can Make a HUGE Impact on Your Family

πŸ’‘ What to Know Before Buying Life Insurance

Life insurance provides financial protection for your loved ones after your death, offering a cash payout (death benefit) to your beneficiaries. It can also serve as a financial tool during your lifetime, depending on the type of policy you choose.

1. Types of Life Insurance

  • Term Life Insurance: Offers coverage for a set period (10, 20, or 30 years) with fixed premiums and is generally more affordable.

  • Permanent Life Insurance: Covers you for life as long as premiums are paid. It includes options like Whole Life (fixed premiums, builds cash value) and Universal Life (flexible premiums and benefits).

2. Coverage Through Work May Not Be Enough
Employer-provided life insurance is convenient but often limited to 1–2 years of salary and usually can’t be taken with you if you change jobs. A personal policy can fill those gaps.

3. Cost Factors
Premiums depend on age, health, lifestyle, and the type and amount of coverage. Buying while young and healthy can significantly lower your costs.

4. How Much Coverage You Need
Your death benefit should cover long-term financial obligations — such as your mortgage, debts, and living expenses — minus existing assets. A common rule of thumb is coverage equal to about 10 times your annual income, but needs vary.

5. Payment Options for Death Benefits
Beneficiaries can receive benefits as a lump sum, in monthly installments, or structured into an IRA for long-term financial support.

6. Premium Changes Over Time

  • Term Life: Fixed rates for the initial term, then increase if renewed.

  • Whole Life: Premiums remain level for life.

  • Universal Life: Offers flexibility — you can pay more early to build cash value or adjust payments later.

7. Tips to Save Money

  • Buy sooner rather than later — rates rise with age.

  • Ask about bundle discounts if you have other policies (auto, home, etc.) with the same insurer.
