November 2021

Giving Thanks

Happy November and Happy Thanksgiving to all. We wanted to take a moment to reflect on what a year it has been. 2021 has definitely brought its challenges, but many things to be grateful for as well. In reflecting, something that COVID-19 has done, for many of us, is make us more thankful for the simple things in life we tend to take advantage of: sharing a meal with loved ones, getting out of the house for some fresh air and exercise, grounding down for a cozy cup of coffee at your favorite local coffee shop, enjoying a Friday night out with friends, and the list goes on. We are extremely grateful for each and every one of you. Without the support of our clients who have all became our friends and our family our family business would not have gotten to the point we have made it to in these 25 + years in business. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and hope you all have a wonderful holiday season!

Turkey Trot

A little twist on this months workout! What a fun way to get out and get moving before all the fun turkey day festivities. Bring along your friends and family and enjoy all the stuffing and treats after!

5k or 10k Turkey Trot!

Walk, jog, run or both!
For beginners, I suggest walking for your trot. Nothing beats some fresh air along the coast with a morning cup of coffee.
Intermediate, try to run or jog 1 mile then walk 1 mile. Alternate between the two. You can also break it down to .5 (half) mile intervals as well!
Advanced, you just go for it! Challenge yourself to complete the entire 5k or 10k without skipping a beat.

Whatever variation of a turkey trot you take, enjoy it and be thankful for just simply being about to move your beautiful body.

Friendsgiving

It's back. The annual friendsgiving at Bingo's! Every year on Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving for all you non shoppers out there), my parents host a party for some of their closest and oldest friends. Everyone comes over early in the morning, the boys go and get a round of golf in, while the girls find all the good sales and get some Christmas shopping done. Everyone rallies all night long and it's a great time to break bread with all the people my parents grew up with. With the next generation on their way u,p the crowd keeps growing and we love it.

Giving Back

With the holidays here, it is an incredible time to acknowledge all we have to be grateful for. It is a super humbling time and a great season to give back to your community or an organization that you believe in. If you are looking for somewhere to give back, I encourage you to look at couple of non-profit organizations I have had the privilege of helping raise awareness and funds for these amazing causes. I have provided links to each if you wish to donate to either one of them. Either way, I encourage you to read the story behind these organizations and keep them in mind if you are ever looking to give back in the future or help serve in one of these organizations.

After nearly 50 years of caring for abused and neglected children, there is one thing that is crystal clear, the key to transforming the life of a child broken from abuse is the healing power of a strong family.
When hurt and abandoned children are surrounded and supported by a loving family and nurturing relationships, it’s amazing to see the dark cloud of fear, loneliness, distrust, and despair begin to lift, and to see promise, hope and light begin to take hold.
They begin to thrive and become the people God intended them to be, full of purpose, unique gifts, talents, and personalities. This is something that Dr. Donald and Mrs. Lois Verleur knew back in 1973 when they took in four young girls who needed a home.

In an instant, cancer changes the lives of patients and their families alike. Amidst the doctors visits, treatments and emotions that come with fighting this disease, family time and a sense of normalcy can be hard to come by. Yet, in so many ways, time spent with loved ones can be one of the most meaningful parts of the treatment and healing process. Our vision is a world where every family with a loved one battling cancer can have dinner together as a respite from their fight. It’s a fight we’re all in together, and with loved ones to lift our spirits, it’s one we can win.

All About the Sides

Well if I'm being honest...I am not a huge fan of Thanksgiving food! Yup, I said it. I don't know who's with me on this one but cooking a turkey all day for it maybe to come out not dry is just not my thing haha. However the sides and dessert is where it's at. I love me some sweet potatoes and pumpkin pie! If you are looking to bring a dish for a family or friends thanksgiving and make a simple side for your own here is my favorite, super easy and time efficient sweet potatoes even the mashed potato lovers will rave about.

Roasted Sweet Potatoes

- 4 to 6 sweet potatoes/yams
- salt
- pepper
- garlic powder
- paprika
- olive oil

Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees.
Line a baking tray with foil and non-stick spray.
Toss sweet potatoes in plenty of olive oil and spices of your preference. I never measure them out and just eye ball!
Place evenly on the baking sheet.
Bake for 40 minutes tossing the potatoes half way through.

Garnish with some fresh rosemary and sprinkle some more salt and enjoy!

Lucy & Winston Turn 2!

Our pups are officially 2! And they for sure are in their terrible 2's, ha! Such a joy having little Lucy and Mr. Winston with us. They love fighting for the perfect bone, naps snuggling up with each other, trips to the office with mom and dad, and of course watching all the tv in the world. Happy birthday
Winston and Lucy we love our pet insurance promoters!
