March 2024

Happy Spring and more importantly, Happy Easter! A great day to reflect on all that God has given us and how He shows up for us every day. Remember that He chose YOU. Time changes, season changes, flowers are blooming, and we are getting some longer days of sunlight. We hope you are having a lovely start to your spring season and are enjoying some spring showers.

Our families faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior is the main cornerstone of our success and longevity in the insurance industry.  We respect all beliefs and want you to know that you are loved and respected.  You will see our faith in how we treat and appreciate you.  You will feel our faith in time of need.  You will hear our faith from our gentle and kind tone.  Thanks again for our relationship and we hope you enjoy the read.

Spring Forward

Whether you are a fan of the springtime change or not, there are some benefits to it. While we still lose an hour of sleep, there are still plenty of benefits.
More daylight promotes safety. It allows people to be outdoors longer and reduces the amount of crime.
People can stay active outside later. Folks who have to work longer hours are able to have more time for exercise.
People conserve more energy being used due to the longer daylight hours.
Retail business owners can benefit because people tend to shop more with more daylight as well.

Although it is not always fun waking up dark and early, there are benefits to your exercise routine, the economy, and safer environments.

Refreshing Recipe

Ingredients:
  • 1 package (12 ounces) whole wheat penne pasta
  • 1-1/2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1/4-in.-thick strips
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil, divided
  • 3/4 teaspoon salt, divided
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/2 cup reduced-sodium chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine or additional broth
  • 6 plum tomatoes, chopped
  • 2 cups fresh baby spinach
  • 3/4 cup crumbled feta cheese

Directions:

  1. In a 6-qt. stockpot, cook pasta according to package directions. Drain; return to pot.
    1. Meanwhile, toss chicken with 2 tablespoons oil, 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper. In a large skillet, cook and stir chicken, half at a time, over medium-high heat 3-5 minutes or until no longer pink; remove from pan.
    2. In same skillet, heat remaining oil over medium heat. Add garlic; cook and stir 1-2 minutes or until tender. Add broth and wine. Bring to a boil, stirring to loosen browned bits from pan; cook 2 minutes. Stir in tomatoes and remaining salt; cook until tomatoes are softened. Stir in spinach until wilted.
    3. Add chicken and tomato mixture to pasta; heat through, tossing to combine. Serve with cheese.
    4. Less than 500 calories per serving and 36 grams of protein per serving!
    5. Such a quit and easy family-friendly dinner that everyone will love and does not break the bank or take forever to make.

Restaurant Review - Aria

One of the best Persian/Mediterranean food I have had in southern California. Such a family feel and excellent customer service. They offer areas for large events, catering options, or a great spot for your next family dinner or date night. We tried the Greek salad, combo plate, and the falafel. Everything tastes so fresh and truly homemade. They are located right off the 78 freeway in San Marcos. Definitely give them a try when you are looking for a healthy option with bigger portions.

Preparing for Rainfall in California

It is strange when the weather calls for rain in southern California and we actually get rain!
Anticipating and preparing for the rainfall can help you stay safe and prevent or limit any damage to your property.

Ready LA County suggests these preventative measures for California residents experiencing heavy rainfall:

  • Assume that burn areas and canyon, hillside, mountain and other steep areas are more likely to have landslides and mudslides.
  • Limit the height of plants near buildings to 18 inches.
  • Use plants and bushes that are less likely to burn and keep them watered. This not only helps with landslides/mudslides, but is also helpful for fire safety.
  • Water landscape to promote early growth.
  • Get rid of litter and dead/dry vegetation.
  • Inspect slopes for increases in cracks, holes and other changes.
  • Build away from steep slopes, bottoms/mouths of steep ravines and drainage facilities.
  • Consult with a soil engineer or an engineering geologist to minimize the potential impacts of landslides.

Spring Training - Workout of the Month

An AMRAP stands for "as many rounds as possible". Your goal is to set your timer and try to get as many rounds in as you can within the 15 minutes! Try this AMRAP again in a week or 2 and see if you can increase the amount of rounds you can get in 15 minutes.

200 m run/jog/walk
20 squats
15 crunches
10 push-ups

Repeat as many times you can in 15 minutes!

Very Important Instructions From Our Agency Owner

As we complete the first quarter of the year, our Department of Insurance Commissioner Lara, is trying to assist with the on going difficulties of having enough surplus to indemnify our insureds in the event of a catastrophic event.  Many of you have witnessed the doubling of rates and have been very concerned about the affordability and sustainability of living in California.  You are heard and we, as your insurance agents, will do all we can to keep you insured with the most affordable premiums with the correct coverages.  It is very important to follow the below items in order to keep your policies in force and to protect your assets.

1.  Follow all request for underwriting and renewals.  Please provide any pictures, mileage documents, compliance request and any other requirements needed so we can provide a timely renewal.

2.  Do not miss your premium payments or be late, the forementioned actions will result in single pay premiums, no more free financing of premiums and or termination of policies without the ability to reinstate.

3.  Read all correspondence that is sent to you from our agency and more importantly, directly from the Farmers Insurance Group.

4.  Manage your premiums by consulting and asking for a review with our agents, the trend to manage premiums is higher deductibles.  Utilizing insurance for catastrophic loss only is also trending.

5.  Bundle your home and auto and umbrella insurances with a single carrier.

6.  Conduct regular maintenance on your homes, cars, recreational vehicles, investment properties.  Note that insurance is not a warranty product.  Wear and tear is not covered under the basic home and auto insurance policies.

7.  Try to install a whole house water shut off system.

8.  Maintain you yards and trees to prevent over growth.

These are tips to help manage your insurance and premium payments.  Our California Insurance Industry is seeing improvements in underwriting and surplus and we should see restrictions lesson and rates stabilizing in the 4th quarter and into 2025.  Thank you as always for listening and complying.  The insurance industry helps the lending industry by providing our surplus to lend and help the economy grow.  We are all in this together and we will come out of this together.

Kindly and gratefully, The Domingo Family Insurance Agency.
