Father's Day
Happy Father's Day to all the dads, grandpas, and everyone who takes on the role of a father. We are very fortunate to have our dad who is a leader of this business and the leader of our family. Always providing for our family any way he can and showing us tough love. Our Father's Day celebration looked a little different than normal this year due to a medical emergency and both my siblings living on the east coast; however that will never change how much we love and appreciate our dad and all his quirks, nicknames, and dance moves. We celebrated a little later with a day at the shooting range and a lunch to follow! You rock Dads, we appreciate you and all your un-noticed hard work!
Restaurant Review - Brooklyn Boyz Pizza
After living in New York, it is tough to find pizza that compares! We decided to try out Brooklyn Boyz Pizza in Oceanside and give it a review. They deliver, have some great special, and make pretty much any pizza you can imagine. They have both deep dish (Sicilian style) and the classic thin crust Brooklyn style pie. By the slice or by the pie, they did not disappoint. If you are just feeding yourself I suggest ordering by the slice! If you are looking to feed a family of 4 to 6 one pizza should do the trick!
Workout of the Month - AMRAP
Well, summer is officially here! No one wants to workout on vacation, or in the summer heat for an hour or more. Here is a quick sweaty blaster that you can do anywhere with your own body weight. It won't take all morning, but you will get your day started with a rush of endorphins and some serious sweat. AMRAP stands for "as many rounds as possible", meaning you will set a timer for 30, 35, or 40 minutes and try to complete as many rounds as you can of all the exercises until the timer stops.
AMRAP - Workout
40 Squats
30 Reverse Lunges
20 Mountain Climbers
10 Push Ups
5 Full Burpees
Go get your sweat on anywhere, anytime! No excuses!
New York or Nowhere
Mom was lucky enough to book a cheap ticket to visit Lex in NYC for a long weekend. They have finally lifted their COVID restrictions and New York City is back in action. They have been enjoying their time at various restaurants, parks, and museums. Mom got to see Lexie's new place and meet some of her new friends since her best friend (me) fled the city.
Backing Off the Booze
I decided to do a little challenge for myself to see how my body and mind responded to a little alcohol detox before the summer time. Was it tough? Of course it was. Being 23 years old in San Diego it seemed liked that was all people did for their social outings. But was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY. It definitely gave me more clarity that is hard to explain, my workouts improved, my skin looked much more clear, and I was not as lethargic. Everything is good in moderation. I would challenge you to just see if you can go 14 to 21 days and see what it can do for you! I do not plan on not drinking again but I do believe it is a good thing to take a break once in awhile (especially after all this COVID drinking). Some benefits after 14 days could include:
1. Better sleep
2. Improved hydration
3. Decreased acid reflux
4. Lower blood pressure & triglycerides (fat cells)
5. Improved immune system
6. Clearer thoughts
7. Improved relationships
Summer Essentials - What's In My Beach Bag
With summer here, the heat is picking up and the tourists are in town. No better way to spend a sunny day than relaxing on the beach. Here are a list of some essentials I always take with me to make the most of my beach day.
1. Pack your lunch & snacks. There is nothing worse than being hungry and having to leave your perfect parking spot to grab a bite to eat. Sandwiches, some chips, and fruit are easy to pack and easy to eat!
2. Sunscreen! Can't stress this enough, everyone wants to get that tan but you have to keep the wrinkles away too.
3. A good book. It is always nice to hangout and just do absolutely nothing for the day, but if you find reading relaxing don't forget to bring something you enjoy reading.
4. Refreshing drinks. The sun is draining and dehydrating itself so make sure to bring some water, coconut water and Gatorade are a couple of my favorites right now. If you're packing a cooler with some alcoholic beverages make sure you are hydrating as well!
5. Chair, towel, & umbrella. Get comfortable and enjoy your time in the sun. I recommend setting up your camp earlier rather than later before the crowds hit the waves.
6. Sunnies and a hat. Some more sun protection never hurt anyone!
We hope you all have a safe, healthy, and fun summer in the sun!
A Note From the Agency Owner
Hello Friends and Family. This is just a friendly reminder about a few Best Practice Safety Tips during Summer.
1. Make suren when leaving for vacation, to notify a friend, family member or neighbor to keep an eye on the house for any suspicious activity.
2. Be sure to have your mail delivered to the post office so nothing can be stolen.
3. Turn off the main water to the home if you are away for any length of time that is more than a few days.
4. Make sure the home windows and doors are secure before leaving for the long trip.
5. If going on a long road trip, check your oil, tires and fluids. Better safe than sorry.
