Red, White, and Fruit

Hope you all had a great weekend. Just 5 more days until my favorite holiday, Fourth of July! Family,   friends, freedom, fireworks, and fun is what the 4th is all about. I guess I have this holiday to thank for my life because my mom and dad, Glenn and Jenifer, met on this holiday 22 year ago!

I know holidays bring parties, food, and drinking. However, just because it is a holiday weekend does not mean you have to get off track with a healthy lifestyle. Below I provided some of my favorite healthy 4th of July festive snack ideas.

Festive Fourth Fruit

All you need are some skewers, blueberries, strawberries (or any red fruit) and bananas! For more of a treat you can substitute bananas for marshmallows. Make your American flag as big or small as you want.

Simple Stars

Super simple and festive. Just use a star shaped cookie cutter to make star shaped watermelon for a perfect 4th of July snack. I love enjoying watermelon on a hot summer day on the beach.

Sparkly Strawberries

Just dip your desired amount of strawberries in melted white chocolate and some blue sprinkles, then refrigerate until chocolate is hard. For a healthier option substitute the white chocolate for greek yogurt.

I hope you enjoy your weekend. Stay safe and have fun. What are some of your festive 4th ideas?

The Blogger Behind the Screen

As many of you know, Glenn Domingo Farmers Insurance is a family based agency. I am Glenn's youngest daughter of 3 children, Amanda and I manage this blog and most of the social media sites. I just graduated high school and will be attending Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY next fall. I plan on studying Sports Medicine with an emphasis on athletic training and health science.

I love all that comes with health and nutrition and look forward to studying and learning more about it. I do quite a lot of research and reading myself and like to learn and share. I also love  playing softball and I am fortunate enough to have received a scholarship to continue to play in college. During my free time you'll see me at the beach, working out, or practicing yoga. I love anything to do with the outdoors and I am a HUGE baseball fan.

I hope this has served you to get to know the writer behind the blog a little bit better. What are some of your favorite hobbies and past times?

Never hesitate to call or email with any questions, comments, or feedback. We love hearing from all of our clients.

With Gratitude,

Amanda Domingo, Social Media Manager

June Gloom and the Beauty Boom

Although the weather has been rather gloomy, summer is still around the corner. No fad diets! They are very short term, restrictive, and can even lead to weight gain. Always remember to commit, compromise, and care for your health as a whole. As we are all trying to get in shape for summer time, here are a couple beauty boom tips to keep your health a priority.

Be Nice To Yourself

Health is a life long journey. If you aren't in the shape you want to be in, stay positive and be proud of the little victories. Studies have shown the more positive outlook on health and fitness you have, the healthier you will become.

Eat Well

Eating right is a key component to a healthy lifestyle. You can exercise all you want, but if you don't practice the right nutrition, you will not see optimal results. A simple healthy meal would contain a protein, a carbohydrate, and a fat. For example, chicken breast with a sweet potato and butter and 1/4-1/2 and avocado.

Accept Your Flaws

Everyone has those trouble spots or things about themselves they wish they could change. Embrace your flaws. Have patience and be kind to your body. Instead of pointing out what you don't like about yourself, praise the things you do. Turn negative thoughts positive.

Use Local Resources

Living in southern California I am blessed to have the ocean in my backyard. Get fit and get outside. Use local surroundings to change up your workout scenery. Changing up location will keep you motivated to workout and not plateau from the same workouts. I enjoy morning runs along the coast.

Train Mean, Stay Lean

Eating right and training right go hand in hand. Training hard keeps your metabolism high, keeps energy positive, and keeps burning calories the entire day. I don't think anyone regrets working out, but they might regret missing one.

You Can, You Will

Always believe in yourself. Set attainable goals and celebrate your little victories, they are just as important as the ones you make over years of commitment. Anything is possible if you just believe.

Good luck on your fitness journey, I believe in you and you should believe in yourself. Getting fit and healthy can also help decrease life insurance rates. Never hesitate to call or email at anytime. We are always open to comments, questions, and feedback.

Be well.
With gratitude,
